This roadside wonder just south of Havelock in Marlborough New Zealand is rumoured to have started over 20 years ago as somewhat of a practical joke by a local to the area. The fence is brimming with shoes of all different shapes and sizes from jelly sandals to hiking boots. No matter how the craze started it surely has left a lasting impression and his great tourist attraction. The farmer who owns the fence has this to say to any of you thrifty folk "If you would like a pair, come have a look. I don't mind if people take some." Mine have been added to the monument of adventure and spontaneity thanks to my Kiwi friend who had sent me the image after my arrival back home.
